Englische Songtexte

Hier zwei Texte über klassische Songthemen – die Einsamkeit des Cowboys und das gute alte Meer:

I’M A COWBOY

Heaven’s sake, I’m a Cowboy,
I’ve got many roads to ride
Hallelujah, I know how, Boy,
with that rifle at my side.

The gun in my hand: the shortest way to heaven,
I’m a riding ring of fire.
Ev’ry year I shoot seven to eleven,
I’m a lonely guy to hire.

Heaven’s sake, I’m a Cowboy,
homeless following the sun,
Hallelujah, I know how, Boy,
and I’m not the only one.

BETWEEN THE BLUE WAVES AND THE WIDE OPEN SKY

When I was young I was listening to the wind
And waiting for the waves to come
The sea was telling many stories at the shore
And the brave old boats were sailing towards the sun
Then all the waves
Were asking me
Is this the life you’re longing for?

The sea is like an ever open book
And the stories they are passing by
There’s just tomorrow and no looking back
Between the blue waves and the wide open sky

I’m standing here and I’m whispering to the wind
my ship is sailing towards the sun
the seven seas hold many stories to explore
beyond all things I’ve ever seen and done
I grace the past
with memories
and choose the life I’m longing for

The sea is like an ever open book
And the stories they are passing by
There’s just tomorrow and no looking back
Between the blue waves and the wide open sky
